A new method for predicting signal sequence cleavage sites.
A new method for identifying secretory signal sequences and for predicting the site of cleavage between a signal sequence and the mature exported protein is described. The predictive accuracy is estimated to be around 75-80% for both prokaryotic and eukaryotic proteins.
متن کاملChloroP, a neural network-based method for predicting chloroplast transit peptides and their cleavage sites.
We present a neural network based method (ChloroP) for identifying chloroplast transit peptides and their cleavage sites. Using cross-validation, 88% of the sequences in our homology reduced training set were correctly classified as transit peptides or nontransit peptides. This performance level is well above that of the publicly available chloroplast localization predictor PSORT. Cleavage site...
متن کاملAllosite: a method for predicting allosteric sites
MOTIVATION The use of allosteric modulators as preferred therapeutic agents against classic orthosteric ligands has colossal advantages, including higher specificity, fewer side effects and lower toxicity. Therefore, the computational prediction of allosteric sites in proteins is receiving increased attention in the field of drug discovery. Allosite is a newly developed automatic tool for the p...
متن کاملA Genetic Programming Method for the Identification of Signal Peptides and Prediction of Their Cleavage Sites
A novel approach to signal peptide identification is presented. We use an evolutionary algorithm for automatic evolution of classification programs, so-called programmatic motifs. The variant of evolutionary algorithm used is called genetic programming where a population of solution candidates in the form of full computer programs is evolved, based on training examples consisting of signal pept...
متن کاملPredicting proteasomal cleavage sites: a comparison of available methods.
The proteasome plays an essential role in the immune responses of vertebrates. By degrading intercellular proteins from self and non-self, the proteasome produces the majority of the peptides that are presented to cytotoxic T cells (CTL). There is accumulating evidence that the C-terminal, in particular, of CTL epitopes is cleaved precisely by the proteasome, whereas the N-terminal is produced ...
